Story Plant welcomes 2020 Apprentice Cohort

This week Story Plant has welcomed their 2020 cohort of apprentices, with four new starters joining the team:

  • Jon Kittoe, Apprentice Small Tools Fitter
  • Owen McCrone, Apprentice Small Tools Fitter
  • Jamie Osborne, Apprentice Plant Fitter
  • Tom Hall, Apprentice Plant Fitter

The young apprentices will be working their way through a packed schedule of health and safety exercises, courses and introductory meetings with their mentors.

These apprentice roles at Story Plant are important for the business in encouraging the recruitment of future talent within the construction industry, whilst also demonstrating our commitment to The 5% Club.

Adrian Hart, Managing Director, said: “We are committed to investing in future talent within the industry and we pride ourselves on providing a high-quality rewarding experience throughout our apprentice programme.

“This ensures that our apprentices have the best possible start to their careers, building the skills and behaviours required to take our business forward and maintain our success within the industry.

“We are very much looking forward to helping our new apprentices grow and develop their careers with Story Plant.”

In the coming weeks the apprentices will begin their SVQ courses at Lakes College and Myerscough College.

Carl Scott, Stores Manager who has been with Story for 4 years will be mentoring Jon and Owen, Apprentice Small Tools Fitters. He said: “We received over 40 applications for the Apprentice roles and having interviewed only 12 candidates, Jon, Owen, Jamie and Tom were successful in securing the available positions.

“I’m very pleased to welcome our latest cohort of apprentices to the Story team. We look forward to helping them grow and develop successful careers with Story Contracting.”
